If I originally banned them forever, then no. Simply because, if I believed they deserved to come back, I would have set a time for the ban to expire.

It really all depends on what the member actually did.

yeah, the ban would depend on what the member did. and then I would set a date for the ban to expire if i would let them come back (though i might make a 'banned' group and make a forum there for only banned members where they can say sorry and TRY to convince the staff to let them back (the staff who banned them will be in charge of this)).

The idea of a 'lounge' for the banned members sounds fun to me, except that in forumotion i have no way to restrict them from seeing anything else without having to do that with all the guest viewable sections.

That aside, I have not really troublemakers to ban, I usually just banned bot accounts. But if a case is given I usually try to avoid to reach the point of a permanent ban. Unless a direct threat is given or something that prevents me to really want them close to my members or the community. I am more up for suspensions, even if they are for several months.

I've never given out a permanent ban, unless it's a bot. I prefer 5 year bans. Razz

No. If someone has been given a permanent ban I'll ban them in every way possible and if they get round that I'll ban them again and again and again. I don't have time to be dealing with constant rule breakers. You get banned, then you are banned end of story. You may think that it is strict but it works extremely well and stops more rule breakers coming.

While I don’t have any troublemakers in my forum right now, I will be very firm with those who wish to ruin the friendly atmosphere that I’ve worked so hard in building. However, I am willing to forgive those who I might end up banning if they’ve shown how much they’ve changed. In my opinion, it’s a good idea to give second chances to those who deserve it.

I rarely have members who deserve the ban hammer in my forum.
like others, the length of the ban would depend on the type of mistake he or she does. but usually I don't take back my ban, unless I set it to expire after a certain time.
