Re: Hogwarts!
Sorry this took so long.
My Grading Scale:
90-100 = Flipping A! Nice Work!
80-89 = Great Site, Above Average!
70-79 = Good site, but a little average. Work on It some more!
60-69 = Ish. Horrible. Better do something about your website.
59 and Below = In the words of Simon Cowell “Dreadful. Utterly Dreadful.”
-Generalities (30marks) In general, your website is exemplary. Your forum style, while a bit dark for my liking, is clean and easy to read. You have a lot of traffic going to and from your forum, as it’s very active as far as I can tell. However your usergroups are rather confusing. [23/30]
-Forum Style (30marks) Your forum style is VERY dark. In styling there is a limit to how light a style should be, or how dark is needs to be, and how much contrast should be in between those two extremes. I am using my knowledge of “Harry Potter” for this, but the styling should be a little lighter, with high and bright contrasts, with rich hues to induce a feeling of “fantasy.” Normally the style that you are using would be used for gaming forums. However I like the greens matching with the Slytherin style in the templates. However, another thing that got me was the banner. All too often, the banners are what completely ruin an otherwise seamless(not perfect mind you) style. Your banner is much too tall, and not wide enough. A suggested size of mine is 150 pixels in height, and 900 pixels in width. [20/30]
-Usergroups (20marks) Your usergroups are VERY confusing. When I browsed the different groups, I couldn’t tell who was who. I couldn’t see any definite administrator group, moderator group, or super moderator group. This can get very confusing for a new member, and this also makes it easier for members to impersonate staff, and increases the chances that members will believe it. I would suggest making a definite admin and mod group, and then adding the “professor” or the themed groups as side groups. [6/20]
-Forum Activity (20marks) Like I said above your forum is very active, however after closer inspection, I see that your website is rather slow, with hardly any current-day posts. However there are many posts that are less than two weeks old, which is good. One more thing that irked me is that the ratio of threads to posts is like 1 : 5 in every board(5 to one.) while it isn’t bad as a whole, and it doesn’t reflect on the activity of your site, it’s just always better to see an even distribution of posts on the forum. [13/20]
Overall = [62/100] Do some work on it, and you’ll be a great site!
