Do You Think AH Should Begin a Support Moderator Group?
Support Moderators
Hello
As a longtime forum enthusiast, I have experience in assembling/upholding staff. Although Advertise Hotspot has 3 active Global Moderators (along with 3 active Administrators) the member/moderator ratio is a bit unbalanced IMO.
My usual ratio is to have 1 moderator for every 75 registered members. At this point, AH current has 1 Global Moderator for every 150 members.
Now I dont believe the Moderator group needs to be expanded, but I do believe it would be wise to look into acquiring additional assistance for them.
As you may or may not be aware, many forums have a "Support Moderator" group. Members of this group have moderation powers in only the most active forums.
I believe adding a Support Moderator group with apx. 3-5 members would be a wise move for AH. They could assist the Global Moderators with the every day work throughout the more popular forums, and it would also give a "bank" for the Administrators incase a Global Moderator were to resign, or be fired. If that situation where to arise, the most experienced/trustworthy Support Moderator could simply be promoted instead of going through the process of hiring a new staff member.
Hope you appreciate my suggestion!

Re: Support Moderators
I choose no.
I think you have a great suggestion there, gasol, thanks for that. the reason why I choose no is simply because I think it's not very urgent. I believe the number of staffs we have here is ample compared to the number of members. let me share you my opinion.
first please notice I'm not trying to act like I have powers over anyone or I want to demote someone from their position. this is purely what I see and what I conclude.
AH has 3 administrators and 3 moderators, that will make us 6 who can watch over the forum. let's just take it very roughly. based on my experience as a moderator, from 3 administrators, only one is highly active as a moderator, 1 semi-active, and the last one I rarely see moderating the forum. from 3 moderators, 2 of us are highly active. that being said, I concluded we have 3 global moderators to watch over the site. so far we're doing great because in my opinion we have a great and fast communication system.
so in my opinion, the solution is not to make another group of moderator, but to increase the activity level of the staffs we currently have. I don't mean to be rude, but if the staff can't be active to watch over the forum, maybe we can replace them with someone else who is more dedicated and active.
that's how I see this problem. hope I explain clearly. ^^"

don't give unimportant suggestions to yourself, Dimon. just reflect it to yourself. I'm not gonna say names here.
Re: Support Moderators
Hi guys, I pretty much agree with phio there. we don't need a support mod group in assisting us, what we need is just to increase the amount of moderators.

Re: Support Moderators
Lol, I had a feeling all the current moderators would vote against this.
Thanks for your opinions anyways though.

Re: Support Moderators
Alright guys, I already suggested to the staff about adding of atleast 1 moderator to help us since iJerick is inactive, so there's no need to worry about the support mod thingy.
Re: Support Moderators
Gasol, we tried a "support" moderators group the last time. At the very beginning of AH. Didn't work out well. I also find it quite pointless.

it is being considered here in this thread, gasol. we're still open to discussion so don't say that. it's not that we don't care about your suggestion, we're just trying to look from as many point of views as possible. ^^
as for the topic, well, in the beginning, I think support moderators wouldn't do so well indeed, Joel. now that the forum is bigger that we'll need more help. although, I haven't changed my mind so far.
Re: Support Moderators
What do you mean by "answers"? You mean moderates?Lexic wrote:This would be pointless because Joel just answers everything...
Re: Support Moderators
Yes, thats what I was thinking. If they didnt, they most likely wouldnt be moderators.LostLegend wrote:Zoids and the others moderate/answer threads too, Lexic.
Re: Support Moderators
Alright, i think this is a decision to make us hire more moderators. But definitely not making a support moderators group. Great suggestion, but i'm sorry, it wouldn't work out.
